Hokkaido Agriculture and Livestock Regeneration Association Celebrates 10th Anniversary
In commemoration of our 10th anniversary, we have changed our name from "Yanagine Bamboo" to "Harushibe Willow.
Early spring is the long-awaited season of fresh greenery, and it is also an important time for trees.
After a long winter, trees are waiting for the snow to melt, and they begin to bud with strong energy from their sap reserves.
The character "蕊" is used for plants and trees, while "蘂" is used for the buds of trees.
We hope that "Harushibeyanagi" will grow as a new tree in the natural world, and we have learned the rules of the forest by cultivating it in many areas,
We named the tree "Harushibeyanagi" in the hope that it will become a new tree in the natural world, and also in the hope that it will learn the principles of Japanese law through the cultivation of many local forests.
We look forward to your continued support for our environmental activities and the spread of reforestation in forests and uncultivated lands in Japan and abroad.
On March 4, 2021, at a regular meeting of the Prefectural Assembly, Mr. Yuji Tanaka, a member of the Prefectural Assembly, proposed "Harushibeyanagi" as a way to utilize devastated farmland in the mountainous areas of the Prefecture.
Mr. Shigeki Maeda, Director of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department, explained the current status of farmland in the prefecture and stated that there are approximately 4,100 ha of devastated farmland in the prefecture and that he would promote the cultivation of fast-growing "Harushibeyanagi" as a way to utilize this farmland and support its consideration as a raw material for wood-based biotechnology factories and construction timber for companies in the prefecture to regenerate farmland and create a recycling-based society. The committee also responded that it would support the use of the trees as raw materials for a wood-based biotechnology plant and as construction lumber.
A new board member, Kazuya Tsuruga (Shibaff LLC), has joined the board.
